Mino Giizis
Solar Energy Facility
Overview
Neoen is developing a 157 MWp / 100 MWac solar farm, known as the Mino Giizis Solar Energy Facility. Mino Giizis means “Good Sun” in Ojibwe language.
The Project is co-owned by Neoen and Anishinabek Power Alliance. Anishinabek Power Alliance is a partnership of four Treaty 4 First Nations – Zagime Anishinabek Nation, Cote First Nation, Kinistin Saulteaux Nation, and The Key First Nation.
Founded in 2008 and owned by Brookfield, Neoen is a global renewable energy company. Its expertise in the fields of solar, wind and storage allows it to actively participate in the energy transition of countries in which Neoen produces green, local and competitive energy.
Neoen has over 8.3 GW of capacity in operation or under construction and aims to deploy an additional 10 GW by 2030.
The Project will sell the generated electricity to SaskPower via a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) following a tender that was administered by the First Nation Power Authority, in partnership with SaskPower. It will bring investment and local benefits, including employment and capital spending in the local economy.
Location
Mino Giizis Solar Energy Facility is located within Treaty 4 Territory, home of many Indigenous nations. The specific land location is Section 8-15 -18 W2 in the Rural Municipality of Lajord No. 128, approximately 25 km southeast of Regina.
Our Commitment to the Community
For local economy
Up to 350 full-time jobs at peak construction, creating opportunities for local individuals and Indigenous businesses
For the climate
Mino Giizis Solar Energy Facility will have the ability to produce over 225,000 MWh of emissions-free electricity per year, which is equivalent to powering 30,000 four-person homes on an average annual usage
For your community
The Project will pay annual property taxes to the Rural Municipality, resulting in financial benefits to the community
Project lifecycle
Neoen is a global leader in clean energy, proud to be contributing to a strong Saskatchewan.

We know trust is earned, not given. That is why we focus on safety, reliability, and care for the local environment in everything we do.
Our goal is to work alongside the community, listen to concerns, and ensure our projects bring real benefits for RM of Lajord No. 128.
We have chosen to invest in Saskatchewan because we see its potential and its commitment to a clean-energy future. Our goal is to contribute responsibly— delivering reliable energy solutions that create real benefits for local communities and support a stronger, more sustainable economy for everyone.
In June 2024 SaskPower signed an agreement with First Nations Power Authority (FNPA) to find a proponent to develop, own and operate a 100-megawatts (MW) solar generation facility to be located in south-central Saskatchewan. SaskPower will buy the power generated from this facility through a long-term Power Purchase Agreement. FNPA will seek an independent power producer (IPP) with at least 30% First Nations ownership to design, construct, own and operate the 100 MW solar facility.
A two-stage competitive procurement process was led by FNPA in partnership with SaskPower. Stage one involved a Request for Supplier Qualifications (RFSQ), followed by a Request for Proposals (RFP) for shortlisted proponents. As the successful project, Mino Giizis signed a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement with SaskPower in December 2025. Neoen will be responsible for obtaining all necessary permits and approvals for the development, construction and operation of the facility.
Neoen is a leading independent power producer of exclusively renewable energy, with 8.3 GW of capacity in operation or under construction across four continents, including over 4 GW of solar capacity worldwide as at the end of December 2025.
We are committed to sharing the benefits of our projects with the communities around them. By prioritising both people and the environment, we have become a developer of choice and a pioneer in the renewable energy sector, focused on building lasting relationships wherever we operate.
Operating in Canada since 2022, with offices in Toronto and Calgary, Neoen operates the Fox Coulée Solar Farm (93 MWp) in Drumheller, Alberta, and was awarded contracts for Tara Battery (400 MW / 1,600 MWh) and Mino Giizis Solar Energy Facility (157 MWp) in May 2024 and December 2025, respectively. Neoen Canada is actively developing a growing portfolio of solar, battery, and wind projects across Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Ontario.
