Connecting communities with the clean energy future

Founded in 2008, Neoen is now one of the world’s leading independent renewable energy producers. Local Neoen teams develop, build, and operate solar power plants, battery storage systems, and wind farms on three continents.

Overview

Neoen is a long-term owner and operator of its assets. It has built trusted partnerships with government, industry, and local communities, and is widely recognised for its innovation and delivery track record. Neoen started its activity in Canada in 2022 and has a current active presence in 3 provinces with offices in Calgary and Toronto. In Alberta, Neoen has an operating Fox Coulée Solar Farm (94 MW) and is developing a large portfolio of solar and battery projects. In Ontario, Neoen has been awarded a 20-year capacity contract by the IESO for a 400 MW battery project in the LT1 procurement and is also developing a large portfolio of solar and battery projects for future IESO procurements. We are also developing a portfolio of projects in Saskatchewan as well for future SaskPower procurements and other opportunities.

Sun
Solar energy is an endless, reliable and sustainable energy source with highly predictable returns and rapid deployment. Solar power is competitive in many countries. Neoen has a strong background in solar power and the majority of our production capacity globally is solar power.
Wind power
Onshore wind power is a form of renewable energy that is highly competitive. Onshore wind power also brings major investments to Finland, and as a decentralized form of energy production, its benefits are distributed across the country. Many small communities receive jobs, land rent and property tax revenues from wind turbines. It complements solar power in areas where wind resources are particularly abundant. Our wind power projects are currently focused on Australia, France, Finland, Sweden and Ireland.
Battery
Energy storage is a solution to the variability of renewable energy production and a core part of our business. We have developed the world’s first large-scale energy storage facility in Australia (Hornsdale  Power Reserve, 100 MW / 129 MWh). We currently have large-scale energy storage facilities in France, Australia, Finland and El Salvador.

How we work

Long-term perspective and local engagement are key to a sustainable and successful energy transition. That’s why we focus on building personal and transparent relationships with all our partners—whether network operators, municipalities, partner companies, or landowners. With solid financial strength and specialized expertise, Neoen delivers green, competitive electricity and helps ensure reliable energy supply for communities everywhere.

Planning & Development

First, we assess the feasibility of a project based on technical, economic, legal, and environmental criteria. We involve landowners, authorities, experts, and local decision-makers from the outset. We conduct extensive investigations to best assess the site and obtain the necessary permits.

Investment & Construction

We finance our projects with a combination of equity and long-term debt. We diligently oversee the construction of our projects and work exclusively with leading suppliers to ensure high quality.

Inventory & Operations

Our facilities are owned and operated by us on a long-term basis. Specialized teams monitor all operations in real time. Our growing asset portfolio, combined with our expertise in the energy market, enables us to provide integrated solutions for our customers.

We strive to be a good neighbour—valuing the trust and partnership of our communities and working to protect the land, water, and air we all depend on. Through transparent and ongoing dialogue, our goal is to create meaningful, long-term benefits for the local communities that host our projects.

4
Our commitment to Indigenous Peoples of Canada

Neoen honours the deep connection of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples to the lands, waters, and skies across Canada. We respect their role as stewards and value the knowledge and traditions that sustain these territories. Committed to partnership, we work with Indigenous communities to deliver clean energy solutions that benefit the land, environment, and all communities nationwide.

5
Host Landowner Engagement

Neoen is committed to building strong, lasting partnerships with our host landowners throughout development, construction, and operation. We value our connection to the land and the communities surrounding our projects. Through open and transparent communication, we work closely with landowners to foster trust and collaboration, ensuring mutual benefits and respect for the land we share.
